A Whole New World Created during MS Coding & Robotics Week

On May 18, robots designed by sixth graders took over the main tech lab and the sixth grade hallway. Under the direction of Laura Loftus, MS technology and innovation coordinator, and Sheamus Burns, HS innovative programs coordinator, students worked together to design robots that could complete a task.

From the spinning ballerina that turned at the sound of clapping and an automatic goalie for a Foosball game to the chocolate-gifting robot and the Panda present robot affectionately dubbed the “Panda Express,” students applied their newfound expertise to make their innovative projects.

During the in-class preparation, students used wires, cardboard, a lot of trial and error, collaboration, and coding to design their robots. Students used Hummingbird robotics kits and programming using Snap! block-based code. Laura shared that “students created a broad range of creative and ambitious projects.” Check out some of the fun robotic creations »
