COLLEGE COUNSELING AT GDS
From the College Counselors:
In all areas of school life, Georgetown Day School is dedicated to providing a supportive educational atmosphere in which teachers challenge the intellectual, creative, and physical abilities of high school students while fostering a strength of character and a concern for others. From the earliest grades, we encourage students to wonder, inquire, be self reliant, and be cooperative participants in the educational process, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning and a commitment to community.
We ask you to approach the college process by employing these same fundamental principles. The college application process is filled with both challenges and opportunities. Students and parents weather intense pressures—some genuine, some media-fed. We, the GDS College Counseling Staff, firmly believe that there are no best colleges, only colleges that are best for individual students.
GDS has three full-time college counselors with extensive college admissions and college counseling experience. We have the luxury of providing juniors and seniors with individual attention and counseling throughout the college application process. We enjoy getting to know the students and relish the opportunity to watch them grow during this exciting time.

If you plan to visit GDS, please note that college visits are held in the fall only during our academic day, 8:15 AM–1:30 PM. To schedule your visit, please contact Deirdre Nicholson or 202-274-3183. Please keep in mind that due to scheduling constraints we are not able to accommodate all visit requests. -
Visiting GDS
The College Counseling office is located at the High School, 4200 Davenport Street, NW, Washington, DC 20016, not the Lower/Middle School on MacArthur Boulevard. Please make sure you don't accidentally go to the Lower/Middle School on MacArthur Blvd.

Georgetown Day School is a coed, preK-12, non-sectarian private school in Washington, DC with small class sizes and a diverse school community. Our comprehensive, innovative curriculum includes hands-on learning, honors and AP classes, as well as advanced-level math and STEM courses. An education is not just college prep and SAT scores. GDS teachers focus on providing the best education for each child, from elementary grades through high school. The school performing arts program includes theater, dance, and music.
