The Identity Project

Second Graders Showcase Mixed-Media Installations
The 2nd grade's second annual Identity Project culminated in what the grade refers to as Museum Day on May 12. For this event, students showcased mixed-media installations about their personal identities, and the GDS community was invited to view the exhibit and hear from the student artists.

?Second grade teachers Todd Carter, Many Kimlick, Githa Natarajan, and Danny Stock also created a video compilation of students and their families sharing quick insights into their cultural and genealogical backgrounds. Watch Part I and Part II of the video.

Read more about the Identity Project on pages four and five in the fall 2015 edition of Georgetown Days magazine, and hear from 1st grade teacher Paula Shelton-Young on how the Identity Project helps student develop a greater sense of self and an appreciation and respect for others in her blog post in the Hopper Effect.
